Agreed, forcing you to create a new destination folder every time you want to upload is pretty unforgivable. My current photo site of preference (SmugMug) isn't even supported, so I was spared your disappointment. Hope there are some other features that work better for you.

10. Canon PowerShot SD1000
A great little camera, though a bit dated at 7.1 megapixels. Plenty for me, though.
9. Eye-Fi SD Card
No more need for a camera cable, or removing the card. Wireless transfer of shots is great!
8. Sanyo Xacti HD 1000
My favorite little video camera. Now if its highest definition would just get Mac-compatible.
7. Drobo
Makes me feel all safe and secure, data-wise.
6. Amazon Kindle
I love being able to carry around a huge number of books in such a small package.
5. Livescribe Pulse Smartpen
I don't have the opportunity to use it much, but I'm just staggered by the tech!
4. 2001 Toyota Prius

Very cool new toy. When I got my Mac, Cali and Neal told me the adjustment period would be about two weeks, and that's just about what it was. I've found David Pogue's "Mac OS X Leopard" book (Missing Manual series) to be very useful in learning the system. If you run into any mysteries, send them my way and maybe I'll know the answer. I've got one of the original generation eeePCs (7-inch screen), and while it's undeniably cute, it's really too small for my hands. I'm considering something a bit bigger (maybe a 10-inch screen), specifically for astronomy/telescope work. Either of the 17-inch laptops are really ungainly to haul outside at night. Good, honest assessment. When I got my Mac, Cali and Neal were my mentors, and their guidance was very helpful. They said, give it two weeks to get used to everything, and that was pretty much right on. Now I do Mac stuff (like two-finger scrolling on the touchpad) when I'm working on PC notebooks. I was able to turn off extraneous noises and enable touchpad taps on my MacBook Pro. No argument on price; they're definitely more expensive.

I've got Media Center on some of my computers (the Mac's just one in a crowd of Windows machines, and now two Linux machines), but I haven't used it for anything more sophisticated than playing DVDs. Sounds like you're saying I should give it a closer look. I've got the GBTVpc in the basement and intend to start exploring its MythTV capabilities this weekend. I'll be documenting that on my site as things progress. I saw Iron Man last weekend and absolutely agree with you. It's not just a great comic book movie, it's a great movie. There are a lot of great movies coming out, Indy of course, and the son of a friend of mine plays Commissioner Gordon's son in Dark Knight, so that will be a little extra fun in that one. Keep the podcasts coming, guys!

Interesting show, I'm looking forward to the next installment. I'm in the process of trying to learn a bit more about Ubuntu. I acquired a mostly-completed media PC with a bit of a public past that runs on Ubuntu; I need to learn enough about it so I can do some more work on it. amazonunbox is a great service I never thought I would use.

I typically enjoy going to my local Blockbuster, browsing through the titles and picking up a rental to take home, but ever since I got Tivo (earlier this year), I love renting films from amazonunbox and having them downloaded to my Tivo.

Not only that, but most of their rentals are no more than $3.99 (tax-free). On many occasions I have rented new releases for only $2.99 and less frequently $0.9.

My local Blockbuster has raised their prices to $4.32 plus tax.

My only gripe about amazonunbox is that once to start watching the film, a 24-hour timer starts. Ultimately the download is disabled after the time expires.

Oh, you lucky person, not having to pay tax at Amazon! They're based a few miles north of me and I absolutely get to pay tax. But I love them anyway. Like you, I've been using them almost since they opened, and whenever I need ANYTHING, I'll likely check Amazon first. Way, way back, before they were making a profit as a business, I was telling people that they would become the Sears of the Internet, basically selling anything someone would need. I think they're pretty close to that now.

About your "Blog Business", and injecting things that are personally important to you along with the original links concept, I think that's definitely the way to go. I think one of the great charms of blogging is the personal aspect. Some may ask, why would I care what this person thinks, but honestly, almost all information we receive is through the lens of a single person's experience, despite efforts to disguise or bury that fact. In a blog we get to celebrate that. Keep the personal perspective coming, Lindsay.

I like your list, and there's no disagreeing with sentimental attachment. I still have my Atari 512ST (512K RAM, external floppy drive, hard drive? what's a hard drive?), which was my first computer. My recent Mac purchase was mainly about seeing what's so great about them that so many users love them so much. I'm still not convinced the Mac is "easier" to use, just a bit different. I still have both XP and Vista machines around me on active duty.
